Acapulco will host the XXXIII International Mining Convention

The Association of Mining Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists of Mexico (AIMMGM, by its acronym in Spanish) is leading the organization of the Mining Convention, which will take place at the Mundo Imperial complex in Acapulco, from October 22 to 25, 2019.

Engineer Salvador García Ledesma, president of the AIMMGM, emphasized that the tradition and prestige of the Convention, acquired more than six decades ago, validate why it is the most important fair of the industry in the country, and why it is a biannual appointment for all miners that cannot be postponed.

He stressed that an essential part of the Convention is to generate a working environment so that new businesses can be developed between companies and suppliers. He added that the transfer of technological innovations and scientific knowledge are also protagonists of the event.

For his part, the Governor of the state of Guerrero, Hector Astudillo Flores, assured the success of the Mining Convention. He expects the attendance of 15,000 speakers, engineers and academics, who together will leave an economic income of 300 billion pesos.

For Jesús Herrera Ortega, General Coordinator of the International Mining Convention, the victory of the mining fair is guaranteed, since most of the speakers have confirmed their attendance. He also added that the stand bookings are fully met. «We have 959 committed stands, with the option of increasing them to 1,091,» he shared.

It is important to note that the port of Acapulco has hosted the International Mining Convention 17 times, the first being in 1975. In this sense, the assistants already name it «the Convention of Acapulco».
